God Calls All Who Are Weary and Burdened

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

This life we live is not an easy one. Many things in life can weigh us down. These things can make us weary. The yoke that Jesus is talking about here represents our many burdens. Those burdens can be sin, the world’s pressures, and trying to get through everyday life. Fortunately, the Lord tells us that we have rest in Him. The Lord wants to help with our burdens, whatever they may be. He tells us to come to Him with the heavy loads we have. He is there to help us shoulder the load. With His help, the burdens that we face have become much lighter. It is impossible to escape the burdens of life. Scripture tells us that we will face trials. So, it should come as no surprise when burdens occur. Rest easy in the Lord when those trials arise.

Prayer

Father, please help me shoulder my burdens. I know that I cannot do it alone. Help me see that my burdens are much lighter with your help. I realize that you want to ease my load because you love me. Lord, humble me.
