Examining Our Hearts: Are We Truly Godly?
As in water a face reflects the face, so the heart of a person reflects the person.
We should all take pause and think about what our hearts reflect. We should ask, “Am I the person God wants me to be?” We need to open ourselves up to the work that God wants to do in our lives. We can turn away from Him. He will let us. Do you want that? If our hearts were exposed to people, what would they say? Would you be ashamed of what they saw? As much as we may think we have given our hearts to God, there is still some darkness in our hearts. We can hide that darkness from people but never from God. He sees it all. We should be glad that we cannot hide anything from Him. We should work daily to become more Christlike. Most days, we fail, but that is okay. He is a loving and merciful God. He wants nothing more than for us to turn to Him when we know we cannot do it on our own.
Prayer:
Father, you are the only one that can see right through me. You know who I am. Even though they may be small steps, you continue to draw me closer to you. Father, search my heart and root out any darkness in it. I want and need that! I know that I will fail you repeatedly. I ask forgiveness for the times that I do fail you. I ask all of this in your son’s holy name. Amen.
